some might say that art doesn't need a purpose and that it's enough that it simply exists.  It could be true that in its purest form, art has no purpose at all; it is simply art.
in our experience, people often seem unsure as to what function or purpose art has in contemporary society.  as art consultants we especially believe that art plays a powerful role in our world.
art is the expression of the human condition.
art communicates imagination, ideas and concepts.
art represents the aspirations of the artist who creates it.
art stimulates the human senses either towards or away from satisfaction.
art provokes a response and makes you feel something.
art makes people think.
art asks questions and lets those faced with it arrive at their own conclusions.
art is a powerful means of storytelling.
art portrays and records historical events theoretically thereby enriching society.
art provides universal communication.

"the purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls." (pablo picasso 1881 -1973)
